BA International Tourism & Airline Management
About this course
International tourism and airline management brings together two of the world's largest and most dynamic industries, examining how they operate, how they are managed, and how they are evolving in response to changing traveller expectations, sustainability pressures, and digital transformation. Tourism generates enormous economic activity and shapes destinations, cultures, and communities around the world. The airline industry is the infrastructure of international mobility and global trade. Understanding both, and the management challenges they share, opens a wide range of career possibilities. At Edinburgh Napier University this four-year full-time programme combines tourism management with the specific operations and commercial dynamics of the airline industry. You will study destination management, hospitality and events, consumer behaviour in tourism, tourism planning, and sustainable tourism alongside airline operations, revenue management, route planning, and the global regulatory environment in which airlines operate. Business management skills, including strategic planning, finance, marketing, and human resources, run through the programme and connect the two industry contexts. The degree includes a year abroad, which places you in a different tourism and aviation environment and develops the international perspective that is directly relevant to industries that are inherently global in their operation. Edinburgh is itself a major tourism destination, giving you a rich living context for your studies. Graduates go on to careers in airline and airport management, tour operations, destination management organisations, travel retail, hospitality, events, and tourism policy. Edinburgh Napier's industry connections support access to placement and graduate opportunities across the tourism and aviation sectors. Many graduates also continue to postgraduate study in tourism management, aviation, or international business.
